Renaisssance Learning:
A new searching tool from Renaissance Learning is AR Book Finder that is available to parents, students, and teachers where you can search for interesting and appropiate books quickly and easily.
With AR Book Finder you can:
Search for books that have a corresponding Accelerated Reader quiz. Search by reading level, interest level, title, author, and subject from any web-enabled computer. You can also search for collections featuring award-winning titles including ALA Notables and best Books, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and Newberry. See book details including book summary information, levels, book cover photos, and more.
Students have been busy selecting and reading some great books. Please encourage your child to read everyday and take time to read with them. What a grea way to spend so quality time with them!

Battle of the Books:
The Batle of the Books is a reading competition for 4th grade students. Students read selected books and then test to qualify for the Battle Teams. A team is choosen from each 4th grade class and then they compete against each other here at school in April. The winning team then goes on to compete in the Area Five Battle in early May.
This year there will be 18 Battle Books, 15 are the Sunshine State Reader Award Booksselected books and 3 that the District has choosen.
Tech News:
There are many resources available for parents and students through SUNLINK: http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu. Just click on the parents or students and then there will be a list of activities available for you to access by clicking on the tabs. You can also check to see if a particular book is available at our school by clicking on the SUNLINK box and then choosing Florida, click on the west coast map (Region 4), Hillsborough County and then typing in the school’s name.
PARENTS
Internet safety is very important. Please have your child visit http://www.safeflorida.net/safesurfkids where they can learn how to protect themselves online while playing games, surfing the internet and having fun.
Parents, we are always looking for volunteers to help in the Media Center. If you have a few extra hours a week please consider volunteering in the Media Center.
